Who and What We Aim to be….

The Federation of Fly Fishers South Africa (FFFSA) is fly-fishing based non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the sport of fly-fishing for all fish in all waters through Conservation, Restoration and Education.

The Federation of Fly Fishers South Africa (FFFSA) is determined to be:

• A Fly Fisher focused organization.

• A distinct organization – in our structure, in our shared vision, in our determination to serve and desire to excel.

• An attractive organization to our members, to the fly-fishing industry, and to the fly fishing community at large.

• A fiscally and socially responsible organization. We work to ensure there are resources to meet our mission. We expand our efforts to the limits of our resources.

• An effective organization because we are constantly learning. We value our interdependence.

 
How We Will Work together….

• The Federation of Fly Fishers South Africa (FFFSA) approach to serving the fly fishing community is based on:

• RELATIONSHIPS - that builds trust and nurture each other, the fly fishing industry and the members of our fly fishing community.

• EXCELLENCE -in all activities and outcomes.

• RESPONSIBILITY -for taking personal action to achieve success at all levels of the Federation, from the Clubs, their committees and their national representatives.

• SERVICE -to our members, to the fly fishing industry and to the fly fishing community.

• LEARNING -that sparks creativity and a willingness to change.

What We Intend To Do To Get There…

• Become the leading support organization for the fly fishing community in South Africa by providing unique services and tools.

• Regularly evaluate the needs of the fly fishing community and its expectations, and, when appropriate, develop and modify services accordingly

The Federation of Fly Fishers South Africa (FFFSA) Must

• Provide high quality services, effective conservation projects, and excellent educational programs meeting the needs of the fly fishing community.

• Continuously monitor and evaluate our activities, seeking to improve the quality and cost of our efforts.

• Attract and retain exceptional individuals for employment at the national level offering an environment that fosters respect for the individual, achievement, teamwork, commitment to shared values and goals, as well as opportunities for personal and professional growth.

• Maintain a position of financial strength to enable mission fulfilment and appropriate stewardship of the fly fishing community resources.

• Engage in dialogue between the clubs supporting the Federation and with municipalities/communities in general, seeking to understand as well as be understood.

• Forge working relationships with the fly fishing community that we serve through involvement of the clubs and individuals in education, conservation, and other critical support activities.

• Demonstrate the ability to collaboratively address the issues of the fly fishing community.

Examples of What We Can Achieve.

• The “River Ranger” program for river rehabilitation and community communication

• The “Family Ties” program teaching fly fishing to junior high and high school students.

• Mangrove and estuary rehabilitation along our coast line.

• Research into the habitat and threats to our indigenous species of fish and all aquatic life.

• Seek co-sponsored communication of all matters concerning the federation.

• Joint projects with Government the private sector such as the River Ranger programme
